Cleanliness and holiness

Today is the second Friday of the month of Rabius Sunny in the year 8 AH. Today we will talk about cleanliness and purity, God willing.

Islam is the religion of purity and holiness. Islam also has clear rules for achieving the natural purity of human beings. According to various hadiths, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to cut his mustache, grow his beard, shave or clean his teeth and face, clean his nose with water in his nose, cut his nails, wash his body parts, clean his armpit hair, and his navel hair. Cleaning, shaving, using water, defecation, circumcision, etc., are mentioned as essential acts of Islam as directed by Fitrat or human nature. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) gave various instructions to keep the body, clothes and house clean and pure. He would object if he saw someone unclean in body or clothes.

In a hadith he said:
نَظِّفُوا أُرَاهُ قَالَ َفْنِيَتَكُمْ وَلاَ تَشَبَّهُوا بِالْيَهُودِ ، تَجْمَعُ الأَكْبَاءَ فِي دُورِهَا
“You shall keep the courtyard of your house clean, and you shall not imitate the Jews. They keep trash at home. “[1]

Sadly, the Jews today are clean and the courtyards of the believers’ houses are all dirty.

One of the aspects of cleanliness and purity is defecation. Islam has special instructions in this regard. One of the etiquettes of defecation is to keep the satar covered from the sight of others. This is why you should always try to get rid of feces in the sanitary toilet or in a hygienic toilet. If it is necessary to perform istinja in an empty space, then people must sit behind the eyes. It is haraam and a cause of curse to let others see one’s own satar while discarding excrement.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
وَمَنْ أَتَى الْغَائِطَ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ
The person who goes for defecation should hide himself. [2]

It is forbidden to leave excrement in such places which may cause inconvenience to the common man. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
The pious are the ones who are the best.
You will continue to avoid the place of the three curses. Then it was said: O Messenger of Allah, what are the places of curse? He said: “People take shelter and sit in such shady places or on the streets or in reservoirs or ponds or in water bodies to defecate.” [3]

It is forbidden to face the Qibla or turn one’s back when defecating. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
ذِذَا َْتَيْتُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا
When you go for defecation or urination, do not put the Qibla in front or behind. [4]

Sanitary urinals need to be thoroughly cleaned. It has been said in Hadith Sharif that if there is urine in any container, bar, pan, the angel does not enter that house. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,
Do not enter into the house of the believer in the house, for the angels do not enter the house in the house of the believer.
No urine should be stored in any container in the house. Because the angels do not enter the house where any urine is stored. [5]

One of the responsibilities of a believer is to keep his body and clothes clean from urine spray. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
A general torment in the grave in Fasting.
“The torment of the grave is mostly due to urination. So you will be clean from urine. “[6]

Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said while passing by two graves:
ِّنَّهُمَا لَيُعَذَّبَانِ وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي كَبِيرٍ مَمَدُهُمَا فَكَانَ
“These two gravediggers are being punished. They are not being punished for anything difficult or big. One of them was not careful to urinate. And the second person would be a prostitute or would ruin the mutual harmony by talking about one thing to another. “[7]

To ensure greater purity, it is necessary to clean the dirt before using the excrement before using the water. In addition, when standing up at the end of the urine so that two / one drop of urine does not fall on the clothes or body, the penis should be pulled three times while sitting after urination and then washed with water.

It is narrated in a hadith of weak sanad:
ذِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَنْتُرْ ذَكَرَهُ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ (وفي رواية زاد) فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ
“If any one of you urinates, let him pull his penis three times. Pulling three times in this way would be enough for him. “[8]

The believer should remember the blessings of Allah in all situations, pray and give thanks. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) taught the rules of reciting Doa before entering and leaving the toilet. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say before entering the place of defecation:
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil and the bad.
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from unclean deeds or from men and women unclean (devils). [9]

In another hadith, Aisha (ra) said,
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say when he came out of the toilet or the place of defecation:

Shoes, sandals or footwear are essential for cleanliness when entering the toilet. It is also polite to keep the head covered. There is a hadith narrated in the Zayef Sanad:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) wanted to enter the toilet, he would wear his shoes and cover his head. [11]

In the Sahih Sanad it is narrated from Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) that he used to cover his head in this way when he went to respond to the call of nature. [12]

One of the topics of Islamic sanctity is ablution and bathing. If there is dirt or impurity on the clothes, body or any other place, it has to be washed with water. And if the ablution is ruined by passing urine, air, sleep or bleeding, then one has to attain purity through ablution. Allah does not accept any prayer without such purity.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
Do not accept the prayer without purification and do not be sincere from the ghulul.
Donations of ill-gotten wealth are not accepted, and prayers are not accepted without ablutions. [13]

In another hadith he says:
If you do not accept the prayer, it is only a matter of time.
“When one of you destroys ablution by letting go of air, etc., his prayer will not be accepted until he performs ablution again.” [14]

Ablution is not just a condition of prayer. Oyu is a very important act of worship. In the hadith, ablution, bathing and purification are mentioned as half of faith. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
الطُّهُورُ شَطْرُ الإِيمَانِ.
“Holiness is half of faith.” [15]

There are great rewards and special rewards for this worship. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
مَن تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ خَرَجَتْ خَطَايَاهُ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ حَتَّى تَخْرُجَ مِنْ تَحْتِ َْظْفَارِهِ
“Whoever performs ablution and performs ablution beautifully, his sins and iniquities will come out of his body, even under his fingernails.” [16]

In another hadith he says;
Shall I not inform you that Allah forgives the sinners and increases the good deeds? The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, you must inform. He said: Performing full ablution in spite of hardships, taking more and more steps towards the mosque and waiting for one prayer after another. And this is the guard of jihad. “[17]

It is narrated in another hadith:
إذا تطهر الرجل ثم أتى المسجد يرعى الصلاة كتب له كاتبه بكل خطوة يخطوها إلى المسجد عشر حسنات والقاعد يرعى الصلاة كالقانت ويكتب من المصلين من حين يخرج من بيته حتى يرجع إليه
“When a person comes to the mosque after being purified or performing ablutions, the writer of his deeds writes down ten thawabs for each step he takes towards the mosque. The one who waits for the prayer in the mosque is rewarded for being engaged in the prayer. The reward for praying is written for him the whole time until he leaves home and returns home. “[18]

We all know the rules of ablution. There is no need to discuss this in detail. However, it should be noted that every part of the ablution is thoroughly washed with water. If any part of the limb is dry, then ablution will not take place, so there will be no prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saw a man who had not washed his ankles.

Then he said:
Woe to the eagle from the fire
“The terrible consequences of the punishment of hell await the ankles.” [19]

Caution about washing the limbs properly does not mean that we will waste water. It is objectionable to waste water or wash any limb more than three times. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to perform ablution with a little water.

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was praying to Allaah and peace be upon him.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to perform ablution with one muddah (about 1 liter) of water and bathe with one sa ‘(about 4 liters) to five muddahs (about 5 liters) of water. “[20]

Islam encourages the use of Meswak at all times and to keep the inside of teeth and mouth clean. It is specially instructed to clean the teeth and mouth during ablution. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
السَّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ مَرْضَاةٌ لِلّرَّبِّ
Brushing teeth cleanses the face and brings satisfaction to the caregiver. [21]

“If I did not think it would be difficult for my ummah, I would have instructed them to do miswak with every ablution.” In other words, I used to instruct them to perform Meswak with ablution during every prayer. “[22]

Try to use meswak of raw stalks of neem or similar tree. If not, use a toothbrush and paste. The main act of worship is to clean the face and remove bad smell.

In Hadith Sharif, recitation of Doa after ablution has been encouraged. The Prophet said:
If one performs a complete ablution and then says: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is his slave and messenger, then the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him. (He will enter Paradise through whichever door he wishes.) “[23]

It is very good to perform some supererogatory prayers after that ablution. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said during the Fajr prayer one day: Because I heard the sound of your footsteps before me in paradise last night. Then Belal said:

“Of all the deeds I have done in Islam, the one I hope to reap the most rewards and rewards is that whenever I perform ablutions day or night, I perform some supererogatory prayers in that ablution as much as Allah gives me tawfiq.” [24] Said:

Whoever performs ablution like my ablution, then goes to the mosque and prays two rak’ats there, then sits in the mosque, his previous sins will be forgiven. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) added: But do not be deceived. (That is, one should not intentionally commit sins by listening to the word of forgiveness. The believer will always try to be free from sin. Nevertheless, minor sins will become unjust, which Allah will forgive through all these deeds.) [25]

The main purpose of ablution

Performing Salat, reciting Quran etc. In addition, it is always better to be in the state of ablution. Especially before going to sleep, it is better to perform ablution and sleep in ablution. In various hadiths, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) has instructed people to sleep while performing ablutions. In a hadith, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

ما من مسلم يبيت على طهر ثم يتعار من اللين الليل إلا آتاه الله إياه, وفي رواية: من بات طاهرا على ذكر الله ذكر الله
“If a Muslim falls asleep in the state of ablution (in another narration: remembering Allah in the state of ablution), then he wakes up at some point in the night and he remembers Allah at that time and asks Allah for something, then Allah will give it to him.” [26] In another hadith he says,

“You must keep these bodies holy. If one falls asleep in the state of ablution, an angel will be lying with him in his bed. Whenever he moves at night, the angel will pray to Allah, O Allah, Your servant is lying in ablution, forgive him. [27]

Hazrat Bara Ibn Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to me, “When you go to bed, perform ablution like the ablution of prayer.” Then lie on your right side and say:

اللهم أسلمت نفسي إليك وفوضت أمري إليك ووجهت وجهي إليك وألجأت ظهري إليك رغبة ورهبة إليك لا ملجا ولا منجا منك إلا إليك آمنت بكتابك الذي أنزلت وبنبيك الذي أرسلت
“O Allah, I have surrendered myself to You, I have entrusted you with all my deeds, I have entrusted my surface to Your shelter, with hope and fear towards You. There is no place of refuge for you and no place of deliverance. I believe in the Book which you have sent down and in which you have sent down the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). “

These sentences will be your last words (don’t say any more after that). The person who dies that night after reciting this dua will die (innocently) on Fitrat. And if he survives, the day of good will begin. “[28]
May Allah Almighty grant us Tawfiq. Amen !!
