Ibn ‘Abbas (R) said that when the Holy Prophet (sm) sent Mu’adh (R) to Yaman, he said to him, “You are going to the people of the Book.” So call them first, that they may accept the Oneness of Allah. If they accept it, then tell them that Allah has made salat obligatory upon them five times a day and night. If they perform salat, they will be informed that Allah has made zakat obligatory on them, which will be collected from the rich and distributed among the poor. If they accept it, they will accept it from Tadegar. But be careful about the value of human resources (Bukhari H / 6362, ‘Tauhid’ chapter, paragraph-1).
